Create an AI Walkthrough

Walk the job, describe what you see, and take photos as you go. AI Walkthrough brings your spoken observations and photos together in a project note, so you can document the visit while the details are fresh.

Use it for an initial site visit, planning an estimate, checking progress, or recording work that still needs attention. Walkthrough captures photos and audio, rather than a video.

Capture a walkthrough

AI Walkthrough is available in supported iOS and Android versions when it is enabled for your business and you can add to the project’s logbook.

If other people will be recorded, ask their permission before opening the camera.

1. Open Dave AI → AI Walkthrough. From Home, select a project; from a project, Dave uses that job.
2. Allow camera and microphone access if prompted. Check that Walkthrough mode is listening before you begin.
3. Describe the area and what matters, then take photos to show it. For example: “Upstairs bathroom: water damage below the window. Check the seal before replacing the trim.”
4. Pause listening when you move between areas or need to have an unrelated conversation. Resume when you are ready to continue.
5. Select Done. Dave queues the recording and prepares a note for the project’s logbook.

Listening stops after 15 minutes; you can still take photos. Leaving the camera for another app pauses listening. Closing the camera saves and queues the capture, so use the pause control when you intend to continue the same walkthrough.

Review the note

Dave organizes the narration into sections and places photos alongside the relevant discussion. Open the finished note from the logbook or select View on the ready notice.

Check names, measurements, locations, and any follow-up work. Edit missed or incorrect details before using the note to plan work or update a client. Where available, More actions → Copy transcript lets you compare it with what you said.

Get a useful result

Name each room or area as you enter it. Explain what a photo should show, what has changed, and what needs to happen next. Speak clearly and keep the microphone uncovered; background machinery can make speech harder to capture.
